Darren and my roles evolved into two very different areas of the business. He is the upfront face of the business, strategically working with clients. My personality naturally drew me to more behind the scenes, working with staff, and running the office.
Prior to Chilli, my working life was made up of a handful of client facing, service-based roles. To name a few, a Law Clerk in the courts, a Chiropractic Assistant through to a PA to a Fashion Designer. It certainly gave me experience in a broad range of businesses.
As my mother always used to say, ‘Nothing goes to waste’. It certainly didn’t in this case as from the employing of our first team member, most of my day is and always has been in the office working with the team. I would like to think I am an integral part of the training and mentoring of our team in the forgotten art of client service.
“Clients do not come first. Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients.”
What is my role? No self-promoting, pretentious ego here. Outside of all things financial and running the office, I will do anything needed. Yes, I will make you a coffee or collect the dishes. I am in strong agreeance with Eleanor Roosevelt:
“It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself.”
A large part of my responsibly is to help the team members to grow in their chosen career, not just for the benefit of Chilli but for them to take with them for their future personal and professional success.
Work with us, you become a part of my family. Does that sometimes lead to heartbreak? Of course, but I wouldn’t do it any other way.

I often reflect on the evolution of where we were to where we are nearly 30 years down the track.
The ups, the downs, the highs, the lows, the laughter, the heartbreak, the celebrations, the devastations, all are a part of that journey. Not only does it build the person you are but the business it becomes. In the words of Colin Powell:
